Mission
To manage trees and woodlands on Lakeway city property for forest health, public safety and aesthetics

Objectives

  • Evaluate and maintain trees around city facilities and walking trails and in city parks and greenbelts
  • Assist the Lakeway Firewise Committee to educate the public about wildfire preparedness and Firewise principles of home protection
  • Plan and implement wildfire fuel reduction projects in city parks and greenbelts
  • Prevent new oak wilt centers through enforcement of the Diseased Tree Ordinance and timely removal of infected red oaks
  • Identify, monitor and manage habitat of the endangered golden-cheeked warbler
  • Assist city departments with other tree preservation and forest health issues
