Pet Registration & Licensing
Overview
The City of Lakeway requires that all dogs and cats over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies and be licensed through the city. Licensing is an important means of identification and can help you find your pet if it becomes lost. Failure to license your pet may result in fines, penalties and/or citations.

To register your pet, go to Lakeway City Hall at 1102 Lohmans Crossing, Lakeway, Texas 78734.

Note: Upon showing proof of current vaccination against rabies, the city will issue you a registration certificate and metal tag with a serial number inscribed, a copy of the registration certificate will be retained in the city files.

Fee Schedule
  • $5.00 for 1 year (with proof of a current 1-year rabies vaccination)
  • $10.00 for 2 years (with proof of a current 3-year rabies vaccination)
  • $15.00 for 3 years (with proof of a current 3-year rabies vaccination)

Dogs Running At Large
Dogs that are running at large will be caught and placed in the city’s animal protection shelter facility and held for a maximum of three days from the date that the dog was impounded.

Owners claiming dogs from the animal control shelter must pay an impound fee according to the following schedule:
           Incident             Impound Fee            Handling Fee
  • 1st incident                 $20                         $5 per day
  • 2nd incident                $50                         $5 per day
  • 3rd incident                 $75                         $5 per day
