And The Winner Is...

Volunteer & Partner Awards

As 2022 comes to a close, the City of Lakeway would like to take the opportunity to thank the many city and community volunteers who help with our many events and needs that may arise in the community throughout the year. We regularly have dozens of volunteers helping with events, such as our 4th of July Celebration, National Night Out, and Witches Ride, just to name a few. We would like to recognize a few of those volunteers and a community partner who all made a big impact this year:

COMMUNITY PARTNER AWARD

We celebrate Lake Travis Community Library (LTCL) for winning the Community Partner Award for 2022. Library Director Morgan McMillian picked up the award at a special ceremony Thursday evening, along with members of the library's board of directors. LTCL continues to be a valuable supporter of the community by offering free educational classes for our residents, both in-person and virtual, along with their participation in numerous events throughout the year in Bookmobile, helping spread the joy of reading. Congratulations!

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

We celebrate long-time resident and volunteer Kay Andrews for winning the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award. Kay continues to be a valuable member of the Heritage Committee, helping bring history to life with her participation in the Heritage Trail Tours. Over the years, she has organized visits with Gwen Wunneburger, who was the former resident of the 1800's style historical cabin (Liebelt Cabin) next to City Hall, with her extensive knowledge of textiles, has helped educate folks on the history of clothing and jewelry, and brought NASA exhibits to life in various events over the years. Congratulations, Kay!

UNSUNG HERO AWARD

We celebrate David Roos for winning the 2022 Unsung Hero Award. For more than 20 years, since about the time the Activity Center opened, David has offered FREE Spanish classes for Activity Center members. As a retired teacher, David continues to offer these weekly classes for those who need beginning or intermediate lessons. Congratulations, David!

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

We celebrate Ron Massa as our 2022 Volunteer of the Year! This year, Ron served in a volunteer capacity as both the chair for the Board of Adjustment and Aviation Zoning Committee, which both had some big tasks this year. Ron also previously served as a Lakeway City Councilmember and as Mayor Pro Tem. Congratulations, Ron!
