The next Lakeway Community Blood Drive will be from 8 a.m. through noon on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at the Lakeway Activity Center, located at 105 Cross Creek. Please consider helping those in need in the community by scheduling an appointment to donate.
This drive will once again be by appointment only. Masks will NOT be required at the event, but staff will have them at the ready if any donors would be more comfortable wearing them.
You can schedule an appointment by visiting www.weareblood.org/donor/ and searching for Group Code A197. You can also contact the coordinators for an appointment at email@example.com. If appointments fill up, you may also use this email address to ask to be included on a waitlist. If a spot opens up in the days before the event, someone will contact you as soon as possible.
If you have received a COVID-19 vaccination, not as part of a trial, whether with a single, first or second shot, you are still immediately eligible to donate blood. If you are part of a vaccine trial, there is a 14-day wait period after your shot before you can donate.
If you are a first-time donor, or have had a recent vaccination (or are considering one), have traveled internationally, or are currently taking antibiotics or other medications, take a look at www.weareblood.org/donate-blood/eligibility/ to see what might – or might not – impact your ability to donate. The We Are Blood website also includes other useful information and answers to frequently asked questions. You are welcome to also email the coordinators if you have questions.
To be eligible, donors need to be in generally good health, at least 17 years old and weigh 115 pounds or more for whole blood donations. Photo identification is required. Organizers recommend that prospective donors eat a good meal and be reasonably hydrated before donating.
