RM 620 Median Project Planned for Summer 2020

At a City Council meeting in early December, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) gave a presentation on a project to add raised medians on RM 620 from Lohman's Crossing Road north to just in front of Primrose School near Bella Montagna Circle. The project will add raised six-inch medians and change some of the turning options currently on RM 620. It will remove the current traffic sticks on RM 620 along that route, which often get mangled or snapped. This project will not only help improve safety, but help prepare for the ultimate widening of 620. Once the median project is complete, it will mirror the turning movements planned as part of the RM 620 widening project expected to begin in late 2022.

Construction on the RM 620 median project will more than likely begin late May 2020 and last through the summer months. The project is expected to wrap up before the 2020/2021 school season begins. Most of the work will be completed at night to minimize impacts on traffic.

The project is expected to come in around $450,000, with the full cost covered by TxDOT.
