Agencies from across Central Texas will join together for the 9th Annual Public Safety Day from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The free annual event will take place at the Lake Travis Elementary School located at 15303 Kollmeyer Drive, Lakeway, Texas 78734.
Public Safety Day started in 2009 to shine the spotlight on Central Texas first responders and their mission by putting on a fun, educational event for the Lake Travis community. This event gives the public a chance to interact with first responders in a non-emergency situation and to learn about what they do in the field. It also gives those attending a chance to learn about the tools and resources first responders use to keep you, your family, your pets and your property safe.
Now in its ninth year, agencies from across Central Texas will bring their helicopters, police cars, motorcycles, ambulances, fire trucks, rescue boats, ATVs, K9s, horses, wildfire mitigation equipment, incident command centers, SWAT apparatus, casualty tents and buses out for display and show you how they operate. There will also be a live fire display at the end of the day and Smokey Bear will also make an appearance! Enjoy a live music performance by Leigh Rowan, food and drink, information from local businesses and non-profits, a Kid’s Fun Zone, Home Depot Kid's Workshop, face painting, a drawing for a $500 2-night stay at Sonesta Bee Cave Hotel, and much more!
Partnering to bring the citizens this event are Lake Travis Fire Rescue, Bee Cave Police Department and the Lakeway Police Department, along with the Lakeway Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association.
