Reserve your seat on the next Heritage Trail Tour on Sept. 20, 2019.
The free bus tours are scheduled to leave at 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. from the Liebelt Cabin (pictured) located next to Lakeway City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing. Lakeway Heritage Committee members and volunteers will guide each tour that lasts about one hour and 15 minutes. This tour will include 17 stops. Buses will have restrooms on board as well. A full map and description of historical sites that could be included in the tour can be found at Lakeway City Hall.
The first Heritage Trail Tour celebrated Lakeway’s Golden Anniversary in 2013, and since then docents have informed and entertained more than 800 participants with facts and humorous anecdotes from the history of Lakeway and Lake Travis area.
One highlight of the tour is the Liebelt Cabin adjacent to City Hall which was the home of Gwen and Joe Wunneburger. In January 2011, what was then the Heritage Commission formally accepted a plan for restoration of the cabin which was owned by the Wunneburger’s since the early days of Lakeway's development in 1963. On Sept. 20, you will be able to step inside the cabin and view a storyboard of the move to City Hall from its original site.
Admission is free for the Heritage Trail Tour, but bus seating is limited and reservations are required.
