Independence Day is the City’s biggest celebration of the year!  Come and enjoy Lakeway’s famous old-fashioned July 4th Celebration.  We have activities for the whole family. This year, we're including fireworks Friday evening, our parade on Saturday morning and Swim Center activities throughout the weekend.

Inclement Weather:
  • In the event of light rain or drizzle, the parade will go on.
  • In the event of heavy rain, the parade will be canceled. That decision will be made by 6 AM

As a reminder during the parade, when the American flag is approaching: stand up straight; salute; put your right hand over your heart; and remove your hat.

Sparkler in front of an American flag

A fireworks show was in the works for this weekend to celebrate our nation’s birthday in the Rough Hollow area as a way to socially distance in light of canceling the parade and Pageantry of Flags ceremony. Due to the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations the past few weeks, Travis County Judge Sam Biscoe sent a letter to mayors in the area recommending local leaders cancel publicly sponsored events and close public spaces in advance of the 4th of July weekend in order to discourage social gatherings and therefore discourage spread of COVID-19. Therefore, out of precaution to protect our residents and community, the fireworks show has been canceled this weekend.
