Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

Any questions regarding this event should be directed to the Heritage Center by calling (512) 608-9533, or by email.

The Standing Military Committe now has a partnership with the Emmaus Parish to hold the Memorial Day event in their sanctuary on (date to be determined on a yearly basis).

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is recognized annually in Lakeway, to honor past and present citizens who served in the Armed Forces. Originally called Armistice Day to reflect upon the formal ending of World War I, services traditionally begin promptly at 11 a.m. on November 11, unless that day falls on a weekend, then the services usually occur on the preceeding Friday.
Any questions regarding this event should be directed to the Heritage Center by calling (512) 608-9533, or by email.
