A native Texan, Jennifer Szimanski grew up in Houston and moved to
the Austin area for college. Jennifer and her husband Tom moved to Old Lakeway eleven years ago and started a family before moving to Rough Hollow at the end of 2019. She and her husband have two young children attending LTISD schools.
Jennifer graduated from Texas State University in 2005 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and immediately began a career in law enforcement with the Texas Office of the Attorney General where she worked in the Criminal Investigations Division as a sworn investigator. She later joined the Austin Police Department and has a 17 year law enforcement background with experience in patrol, investigations, intelligence, and supervisor. In 2019, Jennifer resigned from the Austin Police Department at the rank of Corporal/Detective to accept a job offer with the largest law enforcement association in Texas, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas or CLEAT, where serves as the Director of Public Affairs.
Jennifer has a passion for the safety and welfare of children and investigated child abuse cases at the State level. She was a volunteer with AISD and mentored children with a parent in prison and is also an active member of the Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force and the Texas Law Enforcement Peer Support Network. Jennifer remains an active peace officer and serves as a reserve deputy with the Travis County Sheriff's Office.
