Exciting news! The Cavalier Chapter of the Young Men's Service League is donating its 2019 Ultimate Gift to Lakeway residents! Two hundred volunteers will contribute at least two hours each to the effort to clean up flammable dead and downed wood in Hamilton Greenbelt. Watch the "reveal" of the Ultimate Gift in this clever video from Mayor Pro Tem Laurie Higginbotham:
The investment of time and energy by the young men and their moms will save Lakeway taxpayers an estimated $37,400 in labor costs!
Workdays are scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon and 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. every weekend in November:
There will be two shifts each scheduled workday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Bottled water and snacks will be provided. Volunteers should wear long pants, sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate to the weather. Work gloves and safety glasses will be available for those who can't bring their own.
The November 23 workday will tackle the same area of Hamilton Greenbelt II, but from a different access point which can be reached from Squires Drive. To reach the meeting site, drive to the north end of Squires Drive just past 132 Squires. Park at the end of the cul-de-sac or on the street, being careful not to block the trail entrance. Meet at the north end of Squires at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
If the workday is canceled due to slippery, unsafe conditions following Friday morning's expected rainfall, please recheck this website for an announcement.
