Councilmember Jean Hennagin, CMO

This is a portrait photo of councilmember Jean Hennagin.Jean Hennagin relocated to Lakeway 10 years ago with her husband and two daughters after more than 20 years working and raising a family in Southern California.  Immediately upon her arrival in Lakeway, Jean sought out volunteer opportunities that would contribute to important community efforts. Since then, Jean has participated in, or led, many well-known Lakeway fundraising and general community efforts, and has developed her reputation as a caring listener, skilled collaborator, astute leader, and as someone who engages the citizens of Lakeway.

Jean is deeply committed in her support of Lakeway’s vision of being a unique and growth-managed community, and works hard championing community initiatives that contribute to these goals.

Experience and Education

Jean Hennagin received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Florida and her MBA from Pepperdine University.  She pursued a career in human resources, and quickly grew to hold executive-level HR positions with Fortune 500 companies within the transportation and global pharmaceutical industries.  Jean specialized in employee relations and mediation.  Jean early-retired in 2008 and turned her talent and attention toward Lakeway community volunteerism.

Jean’s Positions and Roles
  • Earned Certified Municipal Officer designation from Texas Municipal League Institute (TMLI)
  • Instrumental in establishing the Public Engagement Advisory Committee for the City of Lakeway
  • Instrumental in instituting a fair volunteer selection process with the City
  • Served 2 years on the Lakeway Zoning and Planning Commission (ZAPCO)
  • Graduate of and Steering Committee member of Leadership Lake Travis
  • Serves on the Lakeway Regional Medical Center Women’s Advisory Group
  • Long-time contributor and former volunteer with Friends of the Lake Travis Community Library. Two years as Chair of the Scholarship Committee
  • Produced and/or organized Lake Travis’ Dancing with the Stars for four years - two years for the Library, and two years for the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce
  • Four years as Program Chair of Lakeway Viewpoints
  • Two years serving on the Board of the Lakeway Associates of Seton
  • Voted Citizen of the Year by the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce in 2013
  • Graduate of the Lakeway Citizens Police Academy.


Jean has been married for 29 years to her husband, David, who is an advertising and marketing consultant.  Jean and David have two daughters, Kylie and Shay, both of whom graduated from Lake Travis High School and are pursuing their career and educational goals.
