SafetyCode Program

The Lakeway Police Department, along with the Lakeway Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and the Lake Travis Fire Rescue are happy to sponsor the SafetyCode program for area residents.

SafetyCode is a voluntary program that allows Lakeway-area residents to provide access codes to their homes via a lockbox that emergency response personnel may use in the event they need to enter residential property when responding to an emergency call.

This program is designed to give emergency personnel quick admission to the home when time matters the most.

Only Lakeway police officers, Lake Travis Fire Rescue firefighters, and Travis County EMS will have access to the codes.

To participate in the SafetyCode program, residents will need to place a key in a lockbox that will open the front-most door of the home.  Residents may either install a lockbox in an easily accessible location outside their residence, or call the locksmith company on the application form if they need help purchasing or installing one.  If a resident already has a lockbox or electronic entry device, those codes along with security alarm codes may also be registered.

Lakeway police and Lake Travis Fire Rescue recommend that residents who install their own box select one that is mechanical, does not require batteries and has a code with a minimum of four digits.
